Travel trailers are one of the best ways to bring your camping experiences to a new level, but that’s only if the trailer is level to begin with! We here at Freedom RV Fresno want to help you camp safely and easily, so we’ve put together some tips on leveling your travel trailer, below. Preparation
First, you’ll need supplies like:
A level
Leveling blocks or boards
Wheel chocks
A leveling jack
Stabilizing jacks (unless your rig has them)
Then you need to find the right spot. Look for something flat on firm ground, even if it means parking a bit further from facilities than you’d prefer.
Right-to-Left
For the leveling process, start with leveling from right to left. Place the level on the tongue of the trailer to see if it’s leaning. If it is, move the trailer a bit, place leveling blocks or boards under the lower side, then move the trailer onto them. Repeat as necessary, then place your wheel chocks and disconnect your tow vehicle.
Front-to-Back
Now place the level so it’s measuring the trailer’s tilt from front-to-back. If it’s not level, use a leveling jack on the lower side and adjust as needed. Then you’ll want to set up your stabilizing jacks to keep everything in place, and voila! You’re ready to relax.
